Ordering... should be simple.

I couldn't be a waitress if my life depended on it. Its just too hard to be that nice.

This little girl was so patient. Somebody should have told this guy to "take a hike".

This is a little 6 X 6 inch oil on a 1 inch gallery wrapped canvas.

Friday Night Challenge

Friday night painting...This is another piece done for the DailyPaintworks Weekly Challenge. One nice thing about this challenge is that you can still enter after the week has long passed. This was done from a photo provided. However I drastically changed the composition, left out some of the people and flipped one figure so that she's facing the other way.

Love this from Robert Genn's Letters

"Think of and look at your work as though it were done by your enemy. If you look at it to admire it, you are lost." (Samuel Butler)

Esoterica: Critical intuition can also be enhanced by minor substance abuse. Cigars and Scotch have been my traditional choices. Since giving up smoking, I've begun to note the critical value of alcohol. "In vino veritas" (In wine there is truth), said Plato.

Holding Up the Bar

Actually one of these figures is someone I know very well. The poor bartender had his hands full that night! It's a tough job but somebody's got to do it! This is an 8 X 10 oil. I love painting bottles!

Need A Title

I'm drawing a complete blank on this one. Usually a title pops into my mind as I'm painting, but not this time.

I just keep wondering why she was taking a picture of this particular painting.

Sketching Ballerinas

Went to a new figure group today. Nice group of people and a very nice experience, I must say. It was at Marlene Lewis's studio in St. L.. She had two professional ballet dancers for us and they were excellent models. It's nice that recently there is so much interest in sketching and painting groups around our area. You can find a group drawing venue for almost any day or evening. I suppose I should have moved around but once I'm set up on an easel I seem to be stuck there. Next time, I may sit on the floor and move around the models.

I'm looking forward to going back.

Colorful Santa's in for 2011

Back in the groove! So here's this year's Santa, almost finished, but I couldn't wait to post. He's more colorful than those in the past due to the new color palette. And this one has lots of thick, juicy paint. Hope I'm on the right path...time will tell! Either way, I'm lovin' it!

Of course, he's for sale. Just have to allow time to dry a little. He'll go in a beautiful gold frame.

A Small Piece/New Palette

Trying a new color palette after a recent workshop.

This was a small piece of my own that I tried. Think I'm likin' it.
